My daddy is gone to be with the Lord in Heaven, and I miss him alot. Just for a few minutes I would like to say how much Daddy meant to me. He was a friend when you needed him, he was a helper if you needed help, he had a sense of humor that just wouldnt quit sometimes. If you ever laughed at him, he would keep it up, so we really tried not to laugh, but then there is me, who thought my Dad was the greatest Dad around. He taught me how to drive, how to fish, and he gave me his sense of humor, I even look like my Dad, but He could also get you, if you did something wrong too. He loved wrestling and would go to the matches. I will have to tell about that later. Daddy, I love you and miss you, so have a HAPPY FATHERS DAY IN THE PRESENCE OF OUR LORD.

My Dad was a gentle man, he loved us with all of his heart and would have done anything for us. My sister and I was his girls. He loved my mom so much, I often said I wanted a marriage like theirs. Daddy and Mom worked so that my sister and I could have nice things, sometimes we wanted something and knowing it would be hard to get, but Daddy would work part time somewhere until he had enough money to get it. My first car was a Pine Green nova, 4 door, but I drove that car with pride. Daddy and Mom taught me how to drive, and I remember one tiime that I was driving, we was going to pick my mom up from work, my sister was in the backseat, I came upon a redlight and slammed on the brakes, my little sister went flying from the backseat to the front seat and she said "God dang it Sherry watch what you are doing" well now that was a cuss word in our family and we would have gotten a spanking for saying that, but my daddy was laughing so hard he couldnt get onto my sister. I just knew we both was going to get it, when mom found out, but I think she laughed just as hard as daddy did over that. I also knew driving lessons was over with, but no the next time we had to go get mom, he let me drive again, was he brave or what??????? | | Posted by sherry at 1:24 PM -

Ok I have a lot of memories of fishing with my dad, that is because I would go when no one else would go with him, could sit in the boat all day with him. Daddy called me sis, I have no clue when that started or how he come about calling me that. But I would be in the front of the boat and he would be in the back where he could steer the boat the way he wanted it to go. Now we only fished for Brim or Crappie, that was his favorite thing to fish for. Now I hated Brim fishing, because it was my end of the boat that always ended up in the bushes, so I couldnt fish, Well needless to say, I am deathly afraid of snakes, so I didnt like to be in the bushes. Daddy carried a rifle with him whenever we went fishing just so the snakes would die(sorry to those who like snakes), Daddy was a dead on shot when he came to snakes. he could blow them in half and I would never see them until he shot them. He would start laughing because he would tell me to watch for them, but for some reason he seen them before me. I would always get tangled up somehow and he would have to untangle me and right in the middle you would hear POW and he shot another snake. One day we was drifting down the Warrior River and we was under a big old weeping willow tree, gunfire went off and it hit a limb right above my head, I was thinking snake, but now another shot went off, Daddy yelled out we was fishing down there, then a third shot went off, that old boat motor cranked first time he pulled that cord, and the next thing I knew we was flying back up the river. That scared us, because hanging on the limb right over my dads head was a HORNETS NEST. now that wouldnt have been a good thing to disturb those things. Like I said, fishing with my dad was adventerous. More fishing stories later. | | Posted by sherry at 1:15 PM -

My daddy took my sister and I fishing in a slew off 269 off Birmingport Road. He bought us each a tackle box and our own rod and reels. He showed us how to bait our hooks and how to cast out and watch the cork to go under to know we had a fish. He never lost patience with us no matter how bad we messed up. My sister's hook took off and daddy told her to reel it in, she did this and up came a turtle on the end of the line, Daddy, told us the only way to get it off was to cut its head off, I dont think my sister ever went fishing with daddy again. But I would go every chance I got. I loved sitting in the boat or on the bank with him and try my best to out fish him, sometimes I could, then there were days when I didnt catch anything. Sometimes we would laugh so hard at us getting tangled up that we couldnt fish for a while. We would eat lunch that consisted of vienna sausages and crackers or chips. He would eat something called Potted meat, that stuff stank to high heavens, and he always turned the boat around so the wind would blow that smell my way, Of course that was my dad for you. Love you Daddy | | Posted by sherry at 12:43 PM -

The other day I wrote about my sister-in-law leaving for Iraq in August, that very afternoon, we had to take our son to Wal-mart for a secret mission. When he came out he was carrying a American Flag and a magnet sticker for the car. He came home and placed that flag on our deck and put that sticker on our car. Jacob was the flag guard at school for the past three years and he has grown to respect what it means for the flag to fly freely. He also learned how to salute that flag, He says its our symbol of freedom and that we should always respect our soldiers no matter who they are for what they do everyday for our freedom. ALL I CAN SAY IS LET FREEDOM RING AND GOD BLESS AMERICAN AND OUR TROOPS WE HOLD IN OUR PRAYERS. | | Posted by sherry at 10:58 PM -
